A man was killed after running a red light and crashing into a pickup truck at West Belfort and Huntington Estates early Sunday morning, according to Houston police. The victim was speeding in a BMW around 12:40 AM and ran the red light at Dairy Ashford Road. The vehicle slammed into the back end of the pickup truck, which was traveling in the same direction.
The BMW spiraled out of control, knocking down mailboxes alongside the road, police said. The victim was ejected from the car and died at the scene. There were two adults and three children inside the truck at the time of the crash. All five were transported to the hospital with minor injuries.
Police believe alcohol may have been a factor in the crash.
